The first museum in the world dedicated to Arab American history and culture, the Arab American National Museum speaks to the experience of Arabs traveling to and settling in the United States. Items in the museum's collection include pieces such as a painted trunk and a beautifully designed soup tureen with matching bowls. Memorabilia from various famous Arab Americans has been donated to the center; featured items are an Indy racing outfit from Bobby Rahal, a typewriter from reporter Helen Thomas and a hand-stitched flag from Antarctic explorer Dr. George A. Doumani. The museum is located west of Detroit in the suburb of Dearborn, two miles from the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.
Open Wed. - Sat. 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Thurs. until 8:00 p.m.; Sun. noon - 5:00 p.m.; Closed Mon. - Tue.
Adults $6; Students, Seniors and Children (6-12) $3; Children 5 and under are free.
